FOWLER WEEK IN REVIEW MARCH 27 – 31

HARRISBURG, IL – Senate lawmakers returned to the Illinois State Capitol after a week-long in-district work period, to begin the unofficial second half of the annual spring session, according to State Sen. Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg).

It was a busy week at the Capitol, with a large number of constituent visitors from across the 59th Senate District. The 47th annual FFA legislative day highlighted the week, with students from Eldorado, Joppa, Shawnee, Vienna, and Pope County High Schools in attendance.  Senator Fowler also welcomed a number of Southern Illinois Special Olympians to the Capitol, as they traveled to the Capitol for the organization’s annual day.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity awarded eight grant projects to the communities of: Christopher, Herrin, Johnston City, Orient, Rosiclare, Sesser, and two additional rural areas in Gallatin and Johnson Counties. All eight projects are being funded with federal funds to direct critical water and sewer infrastructure upgrades.

Senator Fowler applauded the actions of President Donald Trump who issued a March 28 federal Executive Order which seeks a full scale review of any policies which have been detrimental to the American mining industry.

During his two days around the district this week, the Senator attended a youth crime prevention seminar in Williamson County, a hospital luncheon in Franklin County, and held constituent meetings in the Harrisburg office.

His office staff attended the Harrisburg Tornado Fountain dedication and a child abuse prevention forum at John A. Logan Community College.
