On November 26, the Horizon Developer Group announced plans for several businesses throughout the city of Cairo, including plans to develop a Mexican restaurant, coffee shop, laundry mat, dry cleaners, and children’s indoor play center.
State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) issued the following statement about the upcoming business development in the region:
“This region offers the possibility for growth, development and prosperity. It’s encouraging to see the Horizon Developer Group see that potential and begin taking fundamental steps toward investing in the future success of Cairo and the surrounding communities,” said Senator Fowler. “As development begins on these exciting new business ventures and as we continue our efforts to bring a river port terminal to the area, I’m optimistic that we are beginning to see significant progress toward reinvigorating the region and bringing renewed economic opportunity to the District.”
Additional future projects include a Family First Resource Center housed in Cairo’s old Bennett Elementary School building, the development of group home housed in the old Garrison building, and the creation of new housing units.
