After months of uncertainty, an agreement on funding has been reached between the Cave-In-Rock Ferry operator and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
State Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) issued the following statement in response to the contract agreement:
“The Cave-In-Rock Ferry is a critical transportation route between Illinois and Kentucky, and ensuring that operations continued without permanent interruption was a priority for everyone involved,” said Sen. Fowler. “I’m encouraged that a resolution was reached, allowing the Ferry to return to normal hours of operation and enabling area travelers to continue utilizing ferry services.”
Full hours of operation for the Ferry will be reinstated beginning on Monday, Oct. 1. Hours will run seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
