State Senator Dale Fowler joined officials from Meridian Health Plan of Illinois for a $2,000 donation of fresh meat and poultry to the Golden Circle Senior Centers at their Elizabethtown location Monday morning.
“The community support since Golden Circle announced that they were closing has been tremendous,” said Senator Fowler. “I am so thankful that these senior centers will now remain open thanks to an expedited voucher reimbursement process from the Illinois Comptroller’s Office, community donations and today’s food donation from Meridian.”
Last Friday, Senator Fowler and Golden Circles Senior Center Executive Director Gloria Stacey announced the senior centers will remain open following a $136,000 payment from the state and the Illinois Comptroller’s Office. Representatives from State Representative Patrick Windhorst were also on hand for today’s donation.
