In an effort to brighten the lives of senior citizens across Southern Illinois, Senator Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) and Representatives Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) and Paul Jacobs (R-Pamona) recently delivered nearly 2,000 Valentine’s Day cards to long-term care facilities throughout the 59th Senate District as part of the annual Valentines for Seniors Program.
The cards were collected from local schools, churches, community groups, and residents throughout the district and distributed to several facilities in the District to help brighten the Valentine’s Day season for senior citizens.
“Seeing the outpouring of support from our communities was really heartwarming,” said Sen. Fowler. “Our seniors are such an important part of our lives and our communities, and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to make or send a card this year.”
“Together, we were able to collect almost 2,000 valentines this year,” Rep. Jacobs said. “That kind of generosity speaks volumes about the people of the 59th District.”
“Even a small gesture can have a big impact,” said Rep. Windhorst. “These valentines are a reminder to seniors throughout our district that they are loved, remembered and appreciated.”
The lawmakers thanked everyone who donated cards, made heartfelt messages, and took the time to participate.
“As this was my final Valentine’s Day card drive, it was especially meaningful to see such a tremendous outpouring of support for seniors and to end this program on such a high note,” concluded Fowler.
